If you’re in New Zealand, chances are your home has the Marley gutter system — a common setup found across thousands of Kiwi rooftops. The good news? Flowmate has been designed and engineered to fit perfectly with Marley outlets.
But as with anything installed by hand, not every system is identical — and some Marley outlets may have been installed too tightly or without enough clearance to comfortably drop in a Flowmate.
Here’s what you need to know.
Two Easy Fixes for a Snug Marley Dropper
If your Flowmate doesn’t quite slot in due to a tight gutter outlet, don’t stress. You’ve got two straightforward options:
1. Widen the Opening
If the gap is slightly too tight, simply cut the outlet wider to accommodate Flowmate’s dimensions (70mm x 40mm).
✅ Use snips or a hole saw on your drill
✅ No need to remove the gutter
✅ Quick and effective
2. Trim and Rejoin the Gutter
If you're comfortable on a ladder (or have a trusted tradie), you can trim the outlet edge for a cleaner install.
✅ Use a hacksaw to trim 1–2 inches of gutter near the dropper
✅ Buy a gutter joiner from Mitre 10 (e.g., Classic Gutter = Classic Joiner)
✅ Reattach the gutter with PVC cement for a tight, sealed finish
This option gives you a neater final look — especially if your existing setup is a bit rough around the edges.
Flowmate Fits More Than Just Marley
While Flowmate was designed with Marley systems in mind, it’s also a great fit for modern gutter and downpipe setups, including:
- 90mm round downpipes
- 100mm x 75mm rectangular outlets
- And many others used across Australia and New Zealand
