Engineered to Fit: What to Do If Your Downpipe Is Smaller Than Standard

At Flowmate, we’ve engineered our dropper insert to be adaptable across a wide range of gutter and downpipe setups. In fact, it’s extremely rare that we come across a system Flowmate won’t work with — whether it’s a traditional home, a newer build, or a commercial space.

But every now and then, we do find a setup (like on sheds, patios, or granny flats) where the downpipe is particularly narrow — often under 70mm.

The good news? Flowmate can still work. You just might need a small tweak.

How to Adapt Flowmate for Smaller Downpipes

If you’ve got a fine-toothed hacksaw, you can trim either the front or rear section of the Flowmate body to suit a tighter fit — just be sure to leave the top collar intact, so the plate can still clip securely in place.

Not confident doing it yourself? No problem. We’re happy to do it for you before we send out your order. Just let us know when you place your order — we’ll make the adjustment so it arrives ready to install.
